Weekly Roundup

Chicago Events November 27 – December 3

Good Morning Chicago and beyond! Is anyone still recovering from a turkey hangover? I still have a refrigerator full of leftovers. I didn’t have the relaxing Thanksgiving I was hoping to get but my 5 day weekend was full of friends, family, and fun! I kicked off my break with a TSA Precheck approval! Guess who’s more excited about travel than ever? And it came just in time for my travels this coming week to DC. I have a list of things to do while there but if anyone has a MUST visit in Washington DC, please let me know.

Anyways, my time off continued with taking care of two furry friends. Louie, a French bulldog, came to me through a referral. He was an absolute delight over the holiday. Addison Ewok, a miniature shih tzu, is my fur niece (my best friend’s dog). She’s adorable but requires a lot of TLC and since she was staying with my that meant little sleep for me. Ha!

In addition to my furry roomies, I hung out with friends and family. I had two Thanksgiving feasts at two of my closest friends homes. I visited the new Christkindl market at the Park at Wrigley with my aunt visiting from Israel, my neighbor and friend, and her dad visiting from Texas. Christkindl is one of  my favorite holiday activities and I am so excited that they decided to have one at Wrigley this year (close enough for me to walk).

I enjoyed mulled wine, roasted nuts, raclette cheese, kurtos (European spring donuts), and Chocolate Moonshine (Belgium chocolates – one of my favorite). Peep my instagram for some photos (more coming soon) at @appetite_4_adventure.

And I finally caved to Netflix Stranger Things. I watched both seasons from start to finish. You’re not going to like my overall reaction which is…. meh! Lol! I’m sorry but I didn’t love it. I also didn’t hate it but I just couldn’t get wrapped up in all the hype and didn’t get the mind-blowing wow factor everyone else talks about. Now, in my defense, I do not watch much TV at all and I’ve never been a big fan of the super natural or sci-fi genres. Sorry not sorry.

That was my long weekend in a nutshell. Now I am trying to prepare for the work week and my DC vacay. And I am already looking forward to holiday parties with friends filling up my December and hopefully some R&R over the Christmas and New Years holidays.

This week’s round-up is brief. I don’t have many events to share but I am still sharing some. Besides what is listed below, I recommend visiting any of the three Christkindl Markets (Loop, Park at Wrigley, and Naperville) as well as Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo. Oh, and keep an eye out for the CTA Holiday Train. It brings good cheer to all! These are some of my favorite events over the holiday season. Other favorites include checking out the windows at Macy’s, visiting the Walnut Room at Macy’s, drinks at Butch McGuires (incredible holiday decor – it’s like Christmas threw-up in there), sipping holiday cocktails at various bars around Chicago, visiting Santa’s Suite at the Swissôtel which is listed below (It opens to the public Saturday, December 2).

P.S. Have you heard of Windy City Cosmo? She’s an awesome blogger and entrepreneur who recently highlighted me on her blog! You should definitely give it a read as she highlights some other great Chicago bloggers. The Makers of ‘‘Not Your Father’s Root Beer®” Debut New Bourbon from Small Town Craft Spirits™

Small Batch Bourbon with A Hint of Vanilla Now Available

Small Town Craft Spirits announced the launch of Not Your Father’s Bourbon™, the first in a new line of spirits for the spirits company. The innovative company is putting an exciting spin on the centuries-old spirit for a new generation of whiskey drinkers and cocktail connoisseurs. Crafted for veteran and novice bourbon drinkers alike, Not Your Father’s Bourbon is an 86 proof (43% ABV), small batch bourbon with a hint of vanilla for a subtly sweet taste. Small Town Craft Spirits is from the makers of Small Town Brewery, pioneer of the flavored craft category with fan-favorite, Not Your Father’s Root Beer.

The folks at Small Town Craft Spirits celebrate the rich history and heritage behind bourbon, but are excited to launch an option with a unique flavor twist and finish, different from what is expected. While most flavored whiskeys taste more like the flavor than the whiskey, Not Your Father’s believes that the whiskey is the most important part.  A touch of Madagascar vanilla was added to enhance the flavor, not mask it.

Created to be approachable for all spirits drinkers, Not Your Father’s Bourbon appeals to those who want to savor the traditional taste of bourbon, on the rocks, as well as to those who prefer enjoying their bourbon in a mixed drink. Try mixing it with Not Your Father’s Root Beer for an indulgent cocktail that’s hard to refuse.

Not Your Father’s Bourbon comes in 750 ml bottles and is available in Illinois and Wisconsin with plans to launch nationwide by the first quarter of 2018.
