Weekly Roundup - Chicago Events

Weekly Roundup

Chicago Events November 13-19

Happy Monday to all my awesome subscribers! This week is full of tons of fun events that are sure to get you in the holiday spirit. Speaking of holidays, you know I always share a little something extra now at the end of every Weekly Round Up and this week is no different.

Scroll all the way through for some great holiday meal deals from Bistronomic and a great idea of what to bring to any holiday party. As some of you know I spent the summer of 2015 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and one of my favorite treats were their delectable alfajores. Alfajores are made with two soft and crumbly cookies sandwiched around a dollop of dulce de leche. They’re delicious and rare in Chicago but I stumbled upon a little kitchen that bakes the most amazing alfajores. You have to scroll to the end of this Weekly Round Up to see what I am talking about!

HOLIDAYS

Lucila’s Homemade

If you are looking for the perfect treat to bring to your holiday parties this season or the right gift to give any host/hostess that is delicious and unique, look no further than Lucila’s Homemade. It was founded out of a desire to bring to America the treats Lucila grew up with in Argentina. It is her mission to produce unique and traditional hand-crafted pastries, and make them available at gourmet grocers, specialty coffee and tea shops, farmers markets and online.

I had the pleasure of visiting Lucila and her team at their kitchen and I was blown away not only by their alfajores (aka alfies) but also by their work ethic, passion, and teamwork. These women work long hours baking the perfect alfies that include traditional rolled in coconut, dark chocolate dipped, white chocolate dipped, and guava.

You can purchase Lucila’s Homemade Alfajores individually or in gift boxes. You can shop online here or visit this link to see what retailers in Chicago carry them. Now go be the king or queen of your next holiday gathering by bringing these incredible treats.
