Hey Chicago! Hope everyone enjoyed our little winter warmup this weekend. I sure did, especially after a week of being sick. This winter has been brutal in regards to health. So many people are getting sick and I did everything I could to avoid it but it got me nonetheless. So happy to be feeling better and looking forward to being social and active again.

I know I haven’t been sharing as many weekly events with you lately but that is because I really want to focus on sharing quality happenings in Chicago and give everyone access to a variety of opportunities. So, this week I am sharing a few fun events as well as some options for Valentine’s Day and the Super Bowl.

Chicago First Bites Bash – Chicago First Bites Bash 2018 is the official kick-off event for the 11th annual Chicago Restaurant Week, produced by Choose Chicago. Join us inside the magnificent Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier for savory and sweet food tastings from 60 of Chicago’s most celebrated chefs and restaurants. Brain Bash Trivia – Guess who is back to hosting some trivia? I am taking over for my brother at Hidden Shamrock for the next 4 weeks. Come out Thursday nights for some fun random trivia starting at 8p. Trivia lasts about 2 hours. Enjoy great food and drink specials and get a chance to win some fun prizes. Don’t forget…. Chicago Restaurant Week 2018 starts this week.

Choose Chicago is excited to welcome Chicago Restaurant Week once again starting this Friday, January 26 and running through Thursday, February 8. So many of Chicago’s best restaurants are participating offering some incredible prix fixe deals. Enjoy lunches for $22 and dinners for $33 and $44. If you haven’t made any reservations yet, you better get on it because tables book super fast with these prices., I have my dinners booked and I cannot wait! Super Bowl 2018 Viewing Pick

Go Super Bowling with 10pin and cheer on your favorite team!

The beer will be flowing, the wings will be sizzling, and the competition will be fierce. Let 10pin host your Super Bowl party so you don’t have to! Just sit back, get your bowling on, and enjoy the game. They’ll take care of the rest.

Both group and individual packages are available, start at $35 and include bowling, access to their buffet, and game viewing!

Individual Social Package: $35/person will get you 2 drink tickets upon arrival as well as access to our light buffet, shared social lanes, ping pong, pool, and shuffleboard on a rotating basis. Good for anytime throughout the day!

Viewing Party Package: From 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM, $180 will get you and your entire group (maximum of 8 people) 5 hours of unlimited bowling on your own private lane, shoe rental, a complimentary bucket of beer, and access to our buffet, all while you watch the big event on our huge 9-foot screens!

Ballroom Dance Chicago hosts Hot Miami Nights Valentine’s Dance, an hour and a half group salsa & rumba dance class, with complimentary sparkling wine and hor d’ouvres.

Raised Bar1 W. Wacker Drive, is bringing love to all in the Chicago Loop with a special Valentine’s Day: No Date Required event on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 4pm to 12am. The year-round rooftop hangout, which boasts panoramic views of the Chicago River and city skyline, will be offering a champagne cocktail menu paired with decadent dessert items for two. In addition to this event, Staytion Market & Bar, located downstairs of the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, will be hosting a special three-course menu for the evening.

Raised Bar invites couples and friends alike to make a toast to their special love with the exclusive Champagne Cocktail Menu curated for their Valentine’s Day: No Date Required event. Special cocktail options include: Stupid Cupid, served with Hendricks Gin, Campari, lemon juice, simple syrup, and Dibon Brut Cava Reserve;Tall Tale Heartmade with Pisco, Aperol, blood orange juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, and Graham Beck Brut; The Secret Admirer, complete with sage infused Dolin Blanc Vermouth, aquavit, grapefruit, simple syrup and Graham Beck Brut; and Hibiscus Royal, hibiscus liqueur, organic wild flower honey, and Graham Beck Brut Rose.

To pair with the cocktail menu, dessert options for two offered include a sharable Chocolate Strawberry Fondue Box with large strawberries, white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, and crunch pearls; and a Raspberry Lychee Coconut Terrine, with rose crystal sugar, champagne gelee’, and a pink macaroonNicholas Barron, a Chicago-based sultry Blues singer and songwriter, will be providing live music from 6 to 9pm. This is a non-ticketed event.

Additionally, Staytion Market & Bar, located in the lobby of the hotel, will be hosting a special three-course menu for those looking to make their romantic evening a full dining experience. This special a la carte Valentine’s Day menu includes: 1/2 Dozen Oysterswith yuzu soy foam and caviarBitter Green Salad, with goat cheese cream, candied beets, almond powder, burnt citrus, and hibiscus vinaigrette; Bone in New York Steakwith arugula chimichurri, crispy potato, baby artichokes, and grilled asparagus; Housemade Gnocchi, with roasted chicken, peas, tomatoes, pancetta, garlic, pine nuts, and garlic marsala cream, and a tasting from the petit four and chocolate cart for dessert.

Staytion will also be offering a cocktail pairing for each course, which includes a French 75 with Few Gin, simple syrup, fresh lemon, and champagne; a Seelbach cocktail, with Koval bourbon, cointreau, peychaud, angostura and champagne; and a Sbagliato with Carpano, Campari, and prosecco. Local Chicago artist Rebecca Brunner will be providing live music from 5pm to 8pm.


The 4 C’s of Valentine’s Day for an Anti-Valentine’s Day, February 14-17

Forget the diamonds this year, ETA Restaurant + Bar is celebrating the 4 C’s of Valentine’s Day (hint: Cupid isn’t one of them!): [fried] ChickenChampagneCake, and Comfort. Whether toasting with friends for an anti-Valentine’s Day or enjoying some seriously good eats with your partner, ETA’s 4 C’s of Valentine’s Day menu won’t disappoint.

From February 14-17, enjoy a bucket of Hot Sauce Fried Chicken – whole bird (8 pieces) served with buttermilk biscuits and house-made jam ($39), Champagne – split of JP. Geja’s Café340 W. Armitage, is planning the most romantic Valentine’s celebration in its 53-year history. Beginning Sunday, February 11th through Saturday, February 17th , the renowned “Restaurant of Romance” will be elegantly decorated for the holiday and feature rosé sparkling wines and champagnes, live flamenco and classical guitarists, photo keepsakes, and delicious sizzling hot fondue cuisine. Open from 11:30 through 1 p.m. for reservations, Geja’s will feature their signature fondue menu, and guests will be able to create some afternoon delight. Simply go to to make your reservation (a deposit of $25.00/pp will be required to hold your reservation and will be applied to your final bill).

The Valentine’s Dinner Package includes Geja’s creamy Gruyere cheese fondue, a glass of étoile rosé bubbles, Geja’s salad with tangy Dijon vinaigrette, entrée fondue of Beef Tenderloin, Lobster Tail and Jumbo Shrimp, Geja’s luscious flaming chocolate dessert fondue with coffee, and a Geja’s Valentine’s keepsake. Tax and gratuity is included. Ask about the special packages Geja’s has arranged at Lincoln Park Massage Spa or flowers from Dilly Lily.

Navy Pier is teaming up with Entertainment Cruises to host Spinning with Singles, a special Valentine’s Day speed dating event for singles ages 21 and over on the Centennial Wheel and aboard the private yacht, Chicago Elite. Local singles are invited to mix and mingle with other singles at this one-of-a-kind event in hopes of forging a love connection on Valentine’s Day – and National Ferris Wheel Day!

On February 14 starting at 6:30 p.m., participants will have the exciting and unique opportunity to ride the iconic 200-foot attraction in groups and meet new people at every rotation. The fun continues on water with a special dock-side reception aboard Chicago Elite, complete with hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and music by DJ Lovebug. Participants are encouraged to connect with those they were not able to meet on the Centennial Wheel or continue the conversation with someone who may have piqued their interest. At the end of the event, each participant will receive a special package of exclusive offers to Navy Pier experiences – perhaps to share with a date!
