If you’re looking to get out of the city, want something off the beaten path, and in need of a hearty meal check out Pavilion Restaurant Chicago located in Northbrook. The restaurant and banquet hall serve up a fusion of flavor with a modern take on classic American, French & Eastern European dishes in a sophisticated space. Recently a group of fellow bloggers and myself were invited to the restaurant to get a preview of the new menu.

To say that Pavilion Restaurant Chicago wined and dined us is an understatement. They gave us the star treatment satiating our appetites with appetizers, entrees, and more. They even created a unique holiday cocktail for the special occasion.

We ate and ate in gluttony as dish after dish was set in front of us. We sampled from a plethora of appetizers and entrees throughout the evening with my favorites being the appetizers and salads. I loved the following four dishes the most:

1. Tuna Tartare – Sashimi grade Ahi tuna mixed in sesame oil, layered with tomatoes and avocado, served on a bed of alfalfa sprouts and sprinkled with sesame seeds.

2. Portobello Mushroom, Spinach, and Goat Cheese Flatbread – Flatbread options also include Caprese – Mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and basil, lightly drizzled with olive oil and Bleu Cheese & Pear – Bleu cheese crumbles, red onion and pear slices drizzled with honey.

4. Beet Salad – Red and yellow sliced boiled beets, crescent peaches and mozzarella cheese balls mixed in chef’s exclusive dressing, garnished with cilantro and presented on a bed of mescaline mix.

Everything else was delicious, too, but those four were my favorites probably because they were on the lighter side and full of flavor. The entrees tend to be much heartier and meatier but still very tasty. Pavilion Restaurant Chicago offers a full menu that includes cold appetizers, hot appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. In addition to the regular menu Pavilion also offers lunch specials, a late night menu, and a Sunday brunch buffet. There is a full bar, too, stocked with a variety of wines and liquors and they have even have a signature cocktail menu with many delicious options.

With an original array of superbly prepared fare Pavilion appeals to a broad spectrum of discriminating palettes. By offering American (Traditional), Brunch, French, Greek and Mediterranean, Italian, Russian, Seafood and Sushi fare, the restaurant appeals to everyone’s palettes. It’s truly great for groups, families, friends, etc. And prices are fairly reasonable especially considering their portion sizes. I would highly recommend ordering a few dishes and sharing them.
